How we handle your photo and personal information under POPIA. Last updated 20 September 2026.
Privacy Policy
FutureMe SA, including the #IfSheSurvives campaign, is operated by NHL Group (also trading as Aaka Technologies), a company based in South Africa, which is the “responsible party” for your personal information under the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA). Questions? info@nhlgroup.co.za or 012 013 3358.
To check your photo, create and deliver the image you ordered, take and confirm payment, provide support and refunds, keep the service safe (rate limiting, blocking misuse, handling reports), and meet legal and accounting obligations. We do not sell your information, and we do not publish your photo or image or use them in adverts.
Before anything is paid for, your photo is automatically checked by an AI vision service to confirm it shows one clear adult face and nothing inappropriate. It is then sent securely to a third-party AI image provider solely to generate the image you ordered. We do not use your photo to train our own models and we ask our providers to process it only to fulfil your order; they handle it under their own terms and privacy policies.
Some of these providers process or store data outside South Africa (including in Europe and the United States). We use providers that offer appropriate safeguards and, by using the service, you agree to this transfer.
Retention & deletion
Your original photo is deleted as soon as your image is ready, and in any case no later than 7 days after upload. Photos uploaded for an order that is never paid for are deleted within 24 hours.
Your image is kept in private storage so you can download it from your private order link — only someone with your link can view it — and is deleted automatically after 14 days. You can delete your image yourself at any time from your order page, or ask us to.
Order and payment records (without your photo) are kept for as long as the law requires for accounting and tax purposes. Reports and blocks made for safety are kept for as long as needed to prevent misuse.
Your rights
You may ask us to confirm what personal information we hold about you, to correct it, to delete it, or you may object to its processing. Email info@nhlgroup.co.za and include your order reference. You may withdraw your consent at any time (this may mean we can no longer provide the service to you).
If you are unhappy with how we handle your information, please contact us first. You may also lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator of South Africa (inforegulator.org.za).
The service is for people 18 and older, and you may only upload a photo of yourself. Photos of other people and of children are not allowed and our automatic checks are designed to refuse them. To report an image, see the report page on FutureMe SA or email info@nhlgroup.co.za.
Photos and images are stored in private storage that only our servers can access; connections are encrypted. We take reasonable measures to protect information, though no method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
We may update this policy; the date at the top shows the latest revision. Please also read our FutureMe SA Terms & Conditions (including payment, delivery and refunds). Our general website policy is at Website Terms & Privacy.
